Google Pixel 2 Review

Announced in early October 2017, the Google Pixel 2 hit the markets in late October 2017 amid critics of its uninspiring look. The Google Pixel 2 doesn’t inspire so much in terms of looks and design, but it makes up for this with some superb features. The phone lacks a headphone jack, and the front appears old fashioned with a large chin and forehead on either side of its display.
On performance, however, this phone will blow your mind; it runs on an Octa-core CPU, based on the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Here is a review of some of its features;

Design and build
The Pixel 2 is smaller than the Pixel 2 XL with a full HD 5-inch display coupled with black bezels on either end. It uses a Nano-SIM and runs on an Android 8.O OS.
The phone has no SD card slots just like many other modern phones. However, it does go big on storage with 64GB/128GB internal memory variations available.
On the body, the aluminium coating is more textured than its predecessor and has more grip. Essentially, the design is boxy and not consistent with the latest design innovations made by other top mobile phone manufactures.
The Pixel 2, is water resistant which is a feature many consumers are very interested in these days.

Camera
The Pixel 2 camera beats most of its Android competitors. What gives it the edge, is its ability to shoot in low light. The back camera is 12.2MP with a laser autofocus and an impressive dual LED flash. The secondary camera is 8MP, with low light adjustment settings for low light shooting.
On the video, the Pixel can record in full HD at 2160p with the back camera while the front camera can record at 1080p.

Battery
The Pixel 2 battery is slightly above average when compared to its competitors. The battery is a 2700mAh non-removable battery; given its powerful features, this battery cannot be considered as long lasting and will require regular recharging.

Display
The display on the Pixel 2 is excellent when compared to its predecessor. Google has used OLED technology to enhance its clarity. With a resolution of 1920 x 1080, the Pixel 2 affords users a superb display in all condition.
However, despite its display prowess, its screen appears dull when compared to some of its competitors like the Galaxy S8.

Pricing
Google has worked hard to price this phone reasonably. It's much more affordable than other phones in its class. It is currently trading at £ 629 for the 64 GB model and £ 729 for the 128GB model.

The Google Pixel 2 is an impressive gadget with some excellent performance features. Also, you get to enjoy regular updates from Google which will bolster its performance. The price too is reasonable, and affords consumers a viable option when shopping for a high-end phone. If you are more about performance than design, then the Pixel 2 is the phone for you.
